Summary of Sermon: He Said, She Said and They Say
There always seems to be a discrepancy between what someone has said and what has been interpreted by others as to what they had said.
A rumor is defined as a unverified report, a generally circulated story, report or statement without facts to confirm its’ truth; idle speculation, general talk or opinion of uncertain reliability.
Rumors cannot only destroy lives and reputations but also can cause much pain to families.
Gossip is often called the ‘snake that poisons’, topples governments, wrecks marriages, ruins careers, destroys reputations, causes nightmares, sparks suspicion and generates grief.
Before you repeat a story ask:
If not, forget about it!
Rumors can cause division and strife within a unified Body of Believers.
We must learn that rumors are the classic strategy of the devil to divide and destroy and to conquer the Body of Christ.
Do not imitate what is evil, but imitate what is good. Whoever does good is from God. Whoever does evil has not seen God.
Rumors can be very costly to the group if not put into proper perspective. Never underestimate the power of a rumor.
Widening the circle of gossip only furthers the problem. Refusal to identify the source of information is a sure sign of an evil report.
