Movement of Faith

Movement of Faith

The Movement of Faith group from Hope United Methodist Church in Southfield performs a choreographed step routine as part of the church's Juneteenth celebration Saturday. The church held a 4-day commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. (HUGH GRANNUM/Detroit Free Press) Read the article here.

MOVEMENT OF FAITH
. . . ministering through the ‘Art of Step’

AN ANOINTED MINISTRY OPEN TO YOUTH AGES 13 – 17 AND ADULTS.

Movement of Faith (MOF) ministers to the congregation of Hope United Methodist Church, other local churches, youth homes and community functions.

Q. What is the purpose of the Movement of Faith ministry?

The purpose of the Movement of Faith ministry is to encourage and increase ones’ faith in God; motivate spiritual growth, build Godly characteristics, evoke confidence, encourage self-esteem, self-discipline and foster teamwork.

PHILIPPIANS 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Q. What does “Movement of Faith” mean?

Each challenge that is stated in the above mission statement requires an act of “Movement, and combined with believing that when we keep making improvements on each of those challenges, we are becoming better Christians, which exercises the “of Faith”.

With the two purposes combined it sets up the ministry strategically for the main purpose which is to win souls for Christ. How? Because each member of the ministry will be more equipped to be able and willing to reach at least one who’s not apart of God’s kingdom.

HEBREWS 11: 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

Members of Movement of Faith undertake the following responsibilities to align with the purpose of the ministry:

  • Commit to spiritual growth by completing Bible study assignments, praying and fasting
  • Commit to being respectful, of themselves, those in authority and all others, while following established rules. Members are expected to be honest, operating with integrity at all times, and resolving conflicts in a peaceful manner.
  • Commit to developing and maintaining self-discipline by proper exercise, nutrition, and abstaining from alcohol and drugs. Self-discipline is also demonstrated by being prompt and prepared for all rehearsals. Additional discipline is required to strive for academic excellence.
  • Commit to respecting differences treating others fairly, regardless of their race, gender, religion, age or disability.
  • Commit to work as a team with others in the ministry, taking appropriate measures to help those in need. Members show compassion to others, encouraging those who may be dealing with personal challenges or who may need additional assistance.

THROUGH THE MOF MINISTRY ROUTINES WE OFFER THE FOLLOWING

Motivation to those who are saved to put things into proper perspective and to encourage those who are not saved to know that God loves you and accepts you unconditionally just as are, and will lead and guide you to become better.

The Movement of Faith ministry is committed to glorifying God and as a ministry within the HUMC body strives to win souls for Christ.
