Mission Statement
The mission of Vacation Bible School (VBS) is to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ
beyond the church walls into the community through the voices of our children
thus, fulfilling the "Great Commission."
Components
The major components of the VBS are the children, the congregation, and the
community. Planting the seed of the Word in a young child's heart is needful
. . . "When they are old they will not depart from it." Proverb 22:6.
VBS is an excellent opportunity to involve members of the congregation in "short-term" volunteer
work. It is rewarding and gratifying and generally leads to future volunteer
participation. Reaching out into the community through Vacation Bible School
is a wonderful way to open the doors of the church.
Our Contribution To Church
Growth
Vacation Bible School is a viable tool for church growth. Children tell other
children, more children tell more adults, thus the snowball effect. The parents
are exposed to Hope United Methodist Church. This experience usually produces
positive experiences and creates a desire to know more about the Sunday worship
service. Hence, church growth takes place.
