Mission Statement
It is the mission of Family Ministries to become cognizant of the issues confronting
familes; to advocate for the welfare of families; and to minister and respond
to the existent and projective concerns which families possess. Further,
Family Ministries seeks to equip families for Christian discipleship as they
become empowered to reach outside the walls of Hope United Methodist Church.
The ultimate mission is to enable family members to connect with God and
with one another.
Our Contribution To Church Growth
This ministry has contributed to the growth of Hope United Methodist Church
by seeking to meet the needs of families - consisting of one or more members,
and addressing those needs in a timely manner. Married couples who had made
up their minds to divorce, changed their minds; adolescents who had rebelled
at home and at school are in college, doing well; children who were outwardly
disturbed by the loss of a parent, appear to have readjusted; singles who
had become convinced that being single was a curse, have now understood
that being
single does not mean they are alone and useless; and African-American males
are being adopted by parents who love them. Through weekend retreats, spiritual
counseling, exposure and services offered to every entity of every family
at Hope United Methodist Church, Family Ministries is making a difference
in the
lives of Hope members and in the community, thus contributing to church growth.
