Mission Statement
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all that
I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew
28:19,20
The Evangelism Ministry’s mission is to carry out the “Great Commission” as
our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has commanded all Christians to do. We are
committed to sharing the Gospel in the streets, in nursing homes, in hospitals,
in shopping malls, in neighborhoods door to door, wherever and however the
Holy Spirit leads. Through teaching and training we equip others to witness
as we go forward in the building of God’s Kingdom.
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKJV)
Evangelism offers the SHARE JESUS WITHOUT FEAR seminar once a quarter. Through role-plays, written exercises, scripture, discussion and a video, you will learn the true meaning of success in witnessing and that fear can be overcome by following Three Simple Steps in sharing your faith.
The Evangelism Ministry meets every Third Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm. Please join us.
From the Greek, evangelion, translates to “Good News”. It is the good news of being redeemed with God and forgiven of sin through faith in Jesus Christ, His life, His crucifixion, His burial, and His resurrection. Isaiah 52:7; 1 John 5:11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Evangelism is proclaiming the Good News of salvation to men, women, and children, thereby giving them a valid opportunity to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to become faithful responsible members of His church. It is sharing the Gospel with the world through witnessing to your friends, your family, your co-workers, and strangers, telling them about Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation. Matthew 24:14; Mark 1:1-15; Romans 1:15-17.
Yes! Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19,20 (NAS). Mark 16:15; Luke 14:23; John 14:15; John 8:31b; Acts 1:7,8; 1 Peter 3:15.
You must first have a heart - an obedient heart, a loving heart, a compassionate heart, and a willing heart. There are different approaches used to witness to others. By using Bible Scriptures, your personal testimony, and your Christian walk you can share the Good News with others. Hope United Methodist Church offers a wonderful class that will provide you with excellent witnessing tools. The class, Share Jesus Without Fear, is offered by the Evangelism Ministry once a quarter. Mark 12:30,31; John 15:12.
God requires us to share the Gospel with others. He does not require us to convert them. When an individual accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior it is the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit that has caused the conversion. Remember, success in witnessing is: (1) Living out our Christian life; (2) Sharing the gospel; and (3) Trusting God for the results. John 16:8-13; Romans 10:17; 1 Corinthians 2:14.
Adam and Eve, the first man and woman were created by God. Their disobedience to God in the Garden of Eden resulted in our separation from God. Genesis 2:16-17; 3:1-8.
Sin in Greek and Hebrew translates as missing the mark: chata/hamartia. Judges 20:16, Romans 3:23 It is missing the mark of the holiness of God. Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12). The one man was Adam in the Garden of Eden.
We sin when we are disobedient to God, and our thoughts, actions, and words do not conform His holiness. Joshua 7:11; Judges 10:10; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Isaiah 64:6; 1 John 1:8. The penalty for sin is death. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.
After The Fall, in Genesis 3:15 we are first told of the coming of Jesus Christ. This is referred to as the Protevangelicum (the first Gospel).
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to Scriptures. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
Jesus Christ paid the penalty of sin for us. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.
Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to be saved. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 14:6.
Salvation is a gift from God. John 1:12; John 3:36; Romans 10:9,11,13; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8,9.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come in the name of Jesus, because I want to be saved!
I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord.
I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.
I also confess that I have sinned, and I ask that you forgive me of my sins.
I want Jesus to be my Lord and Saviour!
I want Jesus to be the center of my life; the center of my decisions.
So I thank you Lord, for saving me.
I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen.
