Everything we carry, display, and wear has a very significant meaning!

Symbolism and Meaning
You will often witness the Crossbearers of Hope using various “props” during our dances. Well, we think it critical that you understand that everything we carry, display and wear has a very significant meaning. The “props” we use are really “instruments of praise” and the usage of most of them can be traced back to Biblical times. We’d like to share more of this information with you, so that each time you see us it will be that much more meaningful.

Vestments
Holy priestly garment which serves to cover the priests physically and spiritually. It identifies clergy and sets them apart from lay persons.

Instruments of Praise

  • Tabrets: A shield of protection or defense.
  • Praise Hoop: does not contain the symbolic cloth of a tabret or shield, but it helps to express joy and love for the Lord in praise and worship.
  • Worship Flags: Used to signal. Used in praise, worship, intercession, and spiritual warfare.
  • Tambourines: Express joy.
  • Prayer Banners: Serve as a focal point for united, intercessory, corporate prayer. The symbols are a visual aid to focused prayer and are used to accomplish strategic warfare by targeting our prayers more effectively.

  • Purple: royalty, kingship
  • Gold: divine nature, God’s glory
  • Yellow: Shekinah glory, joy, celebration

  • Red: blood, atonement
  • Orange: praise
  • Green: new life, growth, hope, everlasting life

Why We Use These Instruments of Praise and Worship
This is a divine move of God. Not only is He calling us to worship, but He is also redeeming the arts back to the Body of Christ. Divine creativity through the arts, through interpretive dance, and through worship are being used to lift up God the Father.

Although it may not look like it at first, there is actually a great deal going on when we use our flags, praise hoops, and tabrets. It isn’t just a pretty show of colors, or an outward exercise of flashiness. Something begins to happen in the heavens whenever Jesus is lifted up.

Some of the reasons we use these instruments are:

  • They are instruments of praise and worship.
  • They exalt a specific characteristic or name of the Lord.
  • God is lifted up in our midst.
  • It is an outward demonstration of what we feel inside.
  • We confer honor on God when we worship with these instruments.
  • We use them to minister to the Lord.

They are symbolic weapons of warfare displayed in the midst of the people in order to glorify God and disrupt the enemy’s kingdom. At times, you can actually sense the disrupting effect it has over the enemy’s ability to control the atmosphere.
